Shadow Beanie
This beanie requires intermediate knitting skills.
Shadow Beanie Pattern includes instructions for making it in Fingering weight or 4 ply and DK or 8 ply.
The simple two-row stripe pattern consists of alternating off-set garter ridges ro create an optical illusion.
It is knitted in rounds from the bottom edge up, with a K1, P1 rib band
There are 3 sizes: Child, Small Adult & Large Adult; finished beanie circumference: approx 43-44 (49-51, 54-56) cm or 17-17¼ (19¼-20, 21¼-22) ins
finished depth: approx 14-15 (17-18, 19-20) cm or 5½-6 (6¾-7, 7½-8) ins
DK or 8 ply yarn
Colour 1 (C1): approx 50 (70, 90) metres
Colour 2 (C2): approx 25 (40, 50) metres
If making pompom add approx 35 metres
Fingering or 4 ply yarn
Colour 1 (C1): approx 75 (110, 130) metres
Colour 2 (C2): approx 35 (50, 60) metres
If making pompom add approx 40 metres
Needles and Other Equipment
If making in DK or 8 ply
- 3.25mm (US 3) and 4mm (US 6) circular knitting needles both 40cm (16ins) long
- 4mm double-pointed needles for working the crown
- yarn needle and stitch-markers (as desired)
